Dear Teacher Candidates,
As the Dean’s Office of Kilisli Muallim Rıfat Faculty of Education, we place great importance on nurturing individuals who are not merely practitioners, but also intellectually enriched, inquisitive, and capable of guiding society as “carriers of culture.” The most powerful instrument of a teacher lies not only in their knowledge but also in the depth of their intellectual accumulation.
In line with this vision, we have prepared a comprehensive reading list designed to accompany you throughout your four-year undergraduate education.
Why Should We Read?
This list has been developed based on the following foundations:
Professional and Scientific Foundation: To ground your pedagogical competencies in a scientific framework through key works in education theory and psychology. Intellectual Depth: To enable you to analyze society and social transformation through philosophical and sociological texts. Emotional Intelligence and Empathy: To understand the complexity of the human spirit through novels and essays.
From Local to Universal: To grasp both our local cultural values and the contemporary issues of the modern world.
Contribute to the List
Our Faculty also encourages you to take an active role in this process. You are welcome to share books that you believe every teacher candidate should read during their four years of study.
Suggestions and Contact:
You may submit your book recommendations to the Faculty Secretariat or consult the relevant department chairs for inclusion in the list.
Together, we will build the future with generations who both read and inspire others to read.
